The Faction La Machine Massive 4 is perfect for the freeride skier who craves a wide yet light free-touring ski for extended backcountry missions when deep snow is on the menu. With a modest 117 mm waist width, the La Machine 4 Massive holds its own edging on firmer snow thanks to the lightweight paulownia wood core and carbon layers sandwhiched in the ski's construction.

You'll love this ski if:

  • You want extended tip and tail rocker for effortless turn initiation
  • You need a super-light free-touring ski for long expeditions
  • You need a floaty ski that easily surfs above variable snow conditions in the backcountry
  • You want a premium, carbon-loaded ski for torsional strength on the downhill, without the bulk

Features

Lightweight Paulownia Core

Paulownia is an extremely lightweight wood core with excellent strength properties. Paulownia provides beautiful flex and vibration absorption without adding bulk, making it an ideal wood core for a touring ski that performs just as well on the uphill as on the downhill.

Full Carbon Layers

Two full-length sheets of Carbon fiber sandwich the wood core, for a lightweight yet responsive and torsionally rigid ski.

Recycled Materials

Working with our production partners to eliminate material waste, we now mix base, sidewall and topsheet material scraps back into the raw material used for production, reducing carbon emissions while ensuring the same level of quality & durability.

Locally Sourced Materials

In an effort to reduce the impact of our supply chain, we strive to source materials from European companies that are based near our factories.

1% for the Planet

As a proud partner of 1% for the Planet, we donate 1% of all sales from this ski to approved environmental non-profits. 1% for the Planet's mission is to build, support and activate an alliance of businesses that are financially committed to mitigating human-driven climate change.

Sustainable Wood Core

Our poplar, beech and ash cores are sourced from the forests near our European factories, eliminating the carbon cost of transporting raw materials across great distances.

Bio-based Resin

This ski uses an environmentally-conscious, bio-based resin that has 35% of its molecular range derived from plant material. It has the same structural properties as resin derived solely from petrochemical products.

XL Full Strength Sidewall

A construction that places strips of protective material along the sides of each core, between the edge and the topsheet. Sidewalls provide the best possible edge hold and stability when the ski is engaged in a turn as well as protecting the wood core, edges and topsheet from impact and outside damage.

Elliptical Sidecut

Elliptical Sidecut is made up of a longer radius underfoot and shorter radii in the tip and tail of the ski. The long radius underfoot means you can pivot faster and easier, while a shorter radius in the tip and tail result in easier turn initiation. This sidecut allows for a wide variety of turns lengths, angles and mounting positions (stay tuned for our mounting guide).

Anti Chip Micro Cap

Micro-cap construction is a hybrid of a premium, sandwich sidewall construction fused with a lightweight, durable cap construction. With micro-cap, the sandwich construction provides awesome edge hold and torsional stability while the ski’s topsheet wraps around and meets the sidewall, protecting the fragile join that can be prone to chipping.

Mustache Flex

This flex works best for most skiers. Enjoy stability in front of, and behind the binding area to provide solid edge hold. Then, we transition to smooth, progressive flex in the tips and tails to easily absorb all the different bumps and snow debris on the mountain. This flex allows for an easier turn initiation and finish.

Extended Tip and Tail Rocker

We employ Extended Rocker in the tip and tails, which along with waist width, is the most important element in providing float in fresh snow. Extended rocker also makes pivoting and turn initiation easier and means you have less chance of catching an edge.

Glossy High Resistance Topsheet

We use the highest quality topsheet material available, and we test it rigorously to ensure it stands up to regular abuse. Sourced near our factories in Europe for a friendlier supply chain.

2 year warranty

We offer a 2 year warranty as standard. Built to last.
